VALUES

Design our world so that we have positive social and environmental side effects.  ~Bjarke Ingels~

HUMAN-CENTRED

As a designer, I strive to create the ultimate experience for the user, a key point in this is knowing who my user is.

Example:

~If my project is an office space then the users are the workers, so I create a space in which they can enjoy spending their days, be productive and maintain good physical and mental health.~

Human-centred design requires research and thought to ensure that the design will be successful and have a positive impact on the user.

This also extends to us as designers, I believe that by collaborating with other humans and industry professionals we can expand our designs further than we could alone.

PURPOSE-DRIVEN

Purpose-driven design is simply the act of creating with a clear purpose in mind, ensuring that at all points the functionality is considered and ensured to be intuitive and enjoyable for the user. Aesthetics is also a key aspect, therefore, I believe that good design is a harmonious balance of form and function. This requires innovative and thoughtful design that is created bespoke for each different situation.

SUSTAINABLE

I believe that design can have a significant impact on its environment and that it is part of my responsibility as a designer to ensure that the impact is positive. Sustainable design is not about an innovative new design strategy, it is about preserving the life of our planet so that we can have a future.
